I am honored to serve as chancellor of UCLA, one of the world’s great universities. UCLA represents the very best of what a university can be—a diverse community of talented people who enrich our society through education, research and service.
UCLA’s extraordinary students are simply the best of the best. They come from every walk of life and share a commitment to excellence and to the values embodied in a public university. We receive more freshman applications than any other university and enroll less than ten percent of those who apply.
Our world-class faculty includes many who are the top scholars in their fields. They are actively engaged in teaching and research because they love learning and discovery. Our talented staff provides the critical infrastructure without which we could not fulfill our mission.
UCLA enjoys a special relationship with Los Angeles. Faculty, staff and students provide service and share expertise with more than 200 civic organizations. Our scholarship advances medical science, engineering, education, the arts and humanities and many other fields of inquiry around the globe.
I hope you will visit our beautiful campus. Walk through our gardens, tour our stately Romanesque architecture and attend some of our many world-class cultural and athletic events. In the meantime, please enjoy a virtual visit online.
