UCLA Receives $100 Million Gift from Marion Anderson

Financial Stability

Chancellor Block thanks Marion Anderson for her gift, the largest single donation in the history of the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

I am thrilled to announce a major milestone in the life of UCLA. Marion Anderson has made a transformative gift of $100 million to the UCLA Anderson School of Management — the largest single donation in the school’s 80-year history. Marion’s stunning generosity will immeasurably enhance the school that bears the name of her late husband, John.

Sixty million dollars will be used to advance UCLA Anderson’s academic research and teaching programs, provide student fellowships and support programs that reflect our mission of education, research and service. The remaining $40 million has been designated as seed funding for a new building.

This historic gift launches Into the Next: The Campaign for UCLA Anderson. Part of the $4.2 billion Centennial Campaign for UCLA, Into the Next has already raised more than $183 million in gifts and pledges toward its goal of $300 million.

Our entire UCLA family is energized by Marion’s extraordinary philanthropy and that of so many others. Private giving is at the core of UCLA Anderson’s new financial strategy, which seeks to ensure that the school has the support necessary to advance its scholarship and innovative educational programs and to solidify its standing among the world’s leading schools of management.

Marion has been a longtime champion of UCLA Anderson and I am deeply grateful for her deep and abiding support for the future of UCLA. I invite you to learn more about her gift on UCLA Newsroom.
